Hear About Drone Law Directly from the FAA
Part 107 is complex, but this free video webinar helps to shed some light
Part 107 is complex, but this free video webinar helps to shed some light
If you fly a drone — especially for commercial purposes — there’s a good chance that you’re curious about the laws which govern drone use in the United States. You also may be confused about the laws — why they exist, the intent behind their creation, and how they’re enforced.
One month ago, I had the privilege of helping to create a webinar for my industry’s trade group, the Digital Media Licensing Association, examining America’s drone laws, including the FAA’s Part 107. We brought in a rockstar panel, which included a retired Brigadier General who helped write America’s drone laws, a current member of the Federal Aviation Administration, and a top art lawyer from Adobe.
The video from our webinar is now available free of charge on the DMLA’s YouTube Channel.
Here’s the full panel:
Ret. Brig. Gen. John Allen, founder of Allen & Associates Consulting; former VP, Safety at JetBlue Airlines; former FAA Director, Flight Standards Service; and a past member of the committee that reviewed drone safety and developed the drone regulations.
Joseph K. Hemler, acting special programs section manager for the Federal Aviation Administration, charged with setting and overseeing enforcement of the rules, regulations and registration of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS).
Amanda Perrot, director, associate general counsel for Adobe Inc., and a specialist in laws and legal issues surrounding drone usage.
If there’s a group of people more qualified to talk about drone laws, I defy you to find them. The webinar presentations and discussions were far-ranging, covering the rationale for the FAA’s creation of Part 107, an insider’s look at how the law is designed and enforced, and predictions about where America’s drone laws are going in the future.
Check it out, and subscribe to the DMLA’s YouTube channel or follow me here on Medium for more drone content and other free webinar recordings.
